What a wonderful weekend!

Posted by Lisa on June 23rd, 2008

Well the festivities are overwith and we had such a wonderful time with everyone! How great was it to have a village of Lisa and Rowly wedding goers in such a beautiful setting for the weekend!

We are so thankful to have a loving community of family and friends. We will be posting links to pictures as we get them. As well as future family news. Keep checking our website. It will be emerging into a family website space!

Thanks again from the happily wedded couple!

48 hours to go!

It’s nearly here! Many people will start their journey to Vermont tomorrow for the weekend of festivites. We couldn’t be more excited to see everyone!

Lots of people have asked Rowly and I the past week or so if we are nervous. The answer is an unequivocal NO! We are excited for all of it.

We’ve been working hard with some last minute details, but don’t feel overwhelmed at all. We’ve had great help with Jen and Nicole coming over last night. And in general we feel pretty darn mellow about things. So the flower girl bucket and flowers didn’t look exactly like I thought they would. That’s fine, we’ll move on and figure out what does work.

The biggest project we have ahead is the making of the 60 cupcakes and transporting everything we need to the Woods!

Safe travels…see you soon! :-) Lisa

Girls Night Out in Montpelier

Posted by Lisa on June 10th, 2008

Last night, Leita, Andrea and Stef took me out to the Black Door in Montpelier for a lovely pre-wedding dinner. It was a nice end to a hot, hot day in Vermont. Good food, good friends and the night ended with a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream cone.

I’d never been to the Black Door, so I enjoyed myself, the champagne that was ordered and the yummy red snapper I had for dinner. Plus a chance to catch up with friends I don’t get to see socially nearly enough. I’ve only been in Vermont for 3 years and these were the first friends I feel like I had. I am glad to know them and their kids. I was grateful for the lovely evening…thanks, ladies!

Rowly and Katherine are due back in Vermont tomorrow night…VERY late. Rowly’s been away too long and I am excited to see Katherine. I know the last ten days before the wedding will be busy, but a good busy!

Two weeks to go!

Posted by Lisa on June 6th, 2008

The countdown continues and in two weeks all the out of town guests will be arriving in Northfield for the weekend festivities. It’s exciting! It will prove to be a fun time, wedding aside. I am looking forward to being able to spend quality time with everyone.

Rowly is busily grading AP history exams in Louisville and has reported in daily to me (of course!) He had dinner with Todd and Cynthia and is going for a run with them later. Last night he was able to spend time with Katherine and Caroline. This was his first time seeing Caroline since she started walking and his voice was so full of love and admiration for his girls when I talked to him last night. It’s a good coincidence that the AP exam grading is held in Louisville!

Grace finishes first grade today. She had her last Brownie troop meeting last night and at dinner last night we talked about the schedule for the wedding weekend. She had lots of questions. She is taking her job of escorting my parents to their seats and escorting me in to the ceremony very seriously.

   See you all soon!

Moving Right Along

Posted by Lisa on June 2nd, 2008

Rowly has departed for Louisville and we completed our ‘wedding week’ of details. It culminated last night with a visit to The Woods and meeting with Lisa Burr, one of the owners. It’s the first time that Rowly and I have seen the site without snow! Like other times we’ve been there, we were both convinced that it is the perfect place for us to get married.

We go to see the amphitheatre where the actual ceremony will be held and get a sense of that. It’s lovely! Word to the wise…don’t wear fancy shoes or heels. They aren’t practical at all for the space! Seating is on log benches, cozy and intimate.

We also got a better sense of how the tables will be set up for the rehearsal dinner (inside) and the BBQ (outside). That’s helpful so I know how many center pieces to make. And we saw the space for the bonfire. It will be great. Also, on the off-chance that it rains, there is space inside to accomodate the activities, so that’s reassuring. Not that it would DARE rain on our wedding!

Lisa and John Burr, owners of the Woods are really putting a great effort into making the space wonderful for the wedding. It’s the first time they are hosting a wedding, so it’s exciting for all of us. We are grateful for all they are doing. They are also fellow Northfield neighbors and I am joining the Labor Day committee for the town of Northfield on which they both serve, so we know our relationship will be long term. It’s a nice feeling in our new community.

 19 days to go…but who’s counting? :-)
